Dr. Harbison received his undergraduate degree in Biology at Tulane University in New Orleans. Because of his passion for wellness and disease prevention, he went on to obtain a Masters in Public Health degree in Nutrition from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. While at Tulane, Dr. Harbison's mentor was Dr. Louis Ignarro who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology in 1998. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the James A. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee. Dr. Harbison's specialized emphasis in nutrition and disease prevention, along with his research activities in nutrition and cardiovascular disease have provided an excellent foundation for the addition of yet another medical specialty - Bariatrics (the science of weight management). Dr. Harbison has traveled extensively and spent two years living in Italy, (with a special fondness for Tuscany), where he learned the European secrets of beauty and wellness.
In 2001, Dr. Harbison opened the Colorado Medical Weight Loss Center to provide a safe and reliable resource for individuals to pursue and achieve their health and wellness goals. Based on the success of his comprehensive approach to wellness, and the demand from his patients, Dr. Harbison expanded the center to offer a more extensive range of aesthetic and wellness services, and changed the name to Flourish Medical Aesthetics and Wellness to reflect his vision of providing aesthetic and wellness solutions to health-oriented individuals who are seeking a lifestyle change in order to better their overall health, appearance and well-being.
"Wellness is defined by more than just the absence of illness. It encompasses an overall attitude and approach to healthy living that is reflected in all aspects of your being: body, beauty, and balance." ___ Dr. Richard Harbison
